Photos and Journal of the Pinhoti Trail in Alabama and Georgia The Pinhoti Trail is a 240 mile trail stretching Alabama's Appalachian Mountains into Northwest Georgia. For many hiker enthusiast, the Pinhoti Trail is the start of the Appalachian Trail. “Pinhoti” derives from the Creek Indian word meaning “turkey home”. The Pinhoti Trail consists of two smaller trails: the Alabama Pinhoti Trail (100 miles) and the Georgia Pinhoti Trail (140 miles).

Bike Across Florida 2008

Sunday, April 20th: The One-day, 166.9 mile, Bike Across Florida Adventure took place from Cocoa Beach to Crystal River. The Bike Across Florida race is considered to be the 'toughest single-day cycling tour in the U.S.' Billy and Rogers attempted the task after being notified the event had been canceled the day they arrived to Cocoa Beach. Undoubtedly stubborn, they attempted to complete the course with a two man cycle team and Selman's help.

Read Clint Rogers' Bike Across Florida 2008 Journal.

Excerpts from the Adventure:

"Gnats. Lots and lots of gnats. I don't think I really needed the banana, but it got the taste of gnats out of my mouth."- Rogers (Mile 59)

"Riding 166 miles? No problem. Smiling for the camera? The next challenge for Billy." See the photos from the Bike Across Florida 2008 Adventure!

Bibbulmun Track (963km/598 miles)

Oct 20, 2008 2:55 AM
Made it to Walpole this morning. It's as far as I'll get for now - I need to be back in Perth. Shame to be leaving so close to the end, but I can finish up some other time. Yesterday was great - finally reached the Southern Ocean after days of toiling along swampy plains. The last section along the coast looks to be a humdinger.
Made pretty good time since I got back on - adding another 440km in 10 days of hiking - bringing my total to about 760km of the trail's entire 960km length.

Read More of Ben's Journal and Text Messages from the Track.

Ben is back on the trail. This time hiking Western Australia's longest trail; second longest in Australia. The whole trip should take 3-4 weeks. Look for Ben to get text messages off along the way, and posting his updated location on the map.

South West Coast Path Ben's 4 day adventure along the South West Coast Path. The South West Coast Path is Britain's longest National Trail. The path follows arguably the most spectacular stretch of coastline in the country, formerly home to Britain's tin miners, pirates and smugglers.

Appalachian Trail In 2003 I thru-hiked the Appalachian Trail.  I hiked on the A.T. from April 5, 2003 to September 2, 2003.  In 2003 the Appalachian Trail was 2,172.6 miles long.  The A.T. stretches through 14 States, extending from Springer Mountain (Georgia) to Mount Katahdin (Maine).
